walking to rittenhouse square

After leaving Reading Terminal Market, we stopped outside Hard Rock Cafe to listen to this guy for a spell. I think it's the same guy who was drumming on the street after the Eddie Izzard show.

We did a lot of walking in Philly. Excited to be rid of the car and of having to drive in general, we walked and walked and walked. And walked.

Rittenhouse Square. One of the five green spaces laid out in William Penn's original city plan. We sat and people-watched for a while. Saw children playing. Heard people singing. Lots of dog walking.

I like trees.

Nothing scares Lil Wee.

Down came the rain and washed us out of the park and into Barnes and Noble. I went to look at Philadelphia books and came out with a hiking book for Maine. Hmm... Hiking in Maine.

Frida mania in the local boutiques.
Foreshadowing?

At last... Capogiro Gelateria.
How many months have I waited?

How do I love gelatto... Let me count the ways.

Pistacchio Siciliana and Cioccolato Scuro (dark, bitter chocolate)

Sam: Cashew and Bacio (chocolate/caramelized hazelnuts)
Melinda: Dulce de Leche and Cioccolato

Another pub we passed.

Kids playing in the fountains at Logan Square.

More foreshadowing.

Florence and Tel-Aviv, sister cities.

Saints Peter and Paul, the cathedral next to our hotel
(Sheraton in the background).

Delivery from Jake's: pepperonia pizza and caesar salad.

Thus ends another great day in Philadelphia.
